Recirculating grain dryer
The FAO cereal dryer removes excess moisture from crops, ensuring their preservation and safe storage. Reliable and robust, the range of cereal dryers uses the recirculation drying method, a technology adapted to farmers’ needs. Also used in the industrial sector, these dryers are particularly efficient for drying grains such as rice.
Maximise the quality of your crops with the FAO grain dryer.
Operating principle
Recirculating grain dryers operate on the principle of controlled circulation of hot air through the grain to be dried.
The recirculating dryer drying cycle includes :
- Filling the dryer
- Drying with grain recirculation
- Cooling
- Drain
The cycle starts when the grain dryer fills up. The extracted grains are then reloaded into the upper part of the machine. Once the target temperature has been reached, the burner stops, and the cooling process begins. The cycle ends by emptying the dryer. The PLC and associated probes can be used to program either an automatic sequence of cycles, or the execution of a single cycle. This feature reduces handling operations, as only one bucket elevator is needed to fill or empty the grain dryer.
This vertical dryer can handle a wide range of products, including corn, wheat, and barley. Thanks to its batch operation, it is possible to stop drying at the end of a specific batch, whether for reasons of energy saving, noise reduction or to follow a set schedule.
Guaranteed quality and efficiency
The FAO cereal dryer ensures efficient, controlled drying of cereals, preserving their quality while simplifying management of the drying process. You can program two drying temperatures: a high temperature at the start of drying (e.g. 120°C) and a lower temperature at the end of drying (e.g. 90°C) to preserve grain quality.
For drying larger quantities of grain, the continuous grain dryer is the ideal alternative, combining performance and efficiency.

Grain dryers: applications and uses
The recirculating grain dryer is suitable for a wide variety of grains, such as cereals for consumption or seed (corn, wheat, barley, oats, rice) and oilseeds (rapeseed, sunflower). What’s more, thanks to its flexibility, it can handle clocked harvests, process multiple batches, and adapt to different humidity levels.
The agricultural grain dryer is particularly suitable for drying small quantities of grain, making it an ideal option for organic farms, or those with limited harvest volumes.
